The Iraqi Institute for Economic Reform (IIER) UK is currently looking for a research intern to be based in London, UK. The intern will conduct studies and analysis on Iraq's economy and government policy. Examples of topics currently being worked on include the analysis of the dissolution of Iraqi Airways, the effect of aid on Iraq's economy, and the economic benefits of Iraq's accession to the WTO.
You can expect to gain real life work experience, dealing with issues that are vital to the progression of Iraq. This is a great opportunity to gain practical experience, build your CV and improve future employment prospects. In addition, you will gain a vast array of transferable skills, including writing, communication, team-working and project management skills.
This is a 6 week, part time, unpaid internship, based in our office in London. Interns are expected to work 3 days a week out of our offices, where reasonable travel expenses will be covered.
Ideal profile:
- An ideal candidate will be one who will be entering their final year of undergraduate studies in September and studying Economics, however, other disciplines are welcome to apply.
- Highly interested in the Iraqi economic and government policy.
- Has qualitative and quantitative analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, especially in writing and editing.
- Strong organisational skills, ability to multitask and work to tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated, able to successfully complete tasks with minimal supervision, capacity to work independently, takes initiative.
- Highly proficient in English. Arabic is not a requirement, but preferable.
