Iraq Housing Development Summit

Iraq is fighting a housing crisis brought about by the lack of development and large-scale destruction in the sector over the past 30 years. With up to $300 billion earmarked to fund housing projects, the Iraqi government and provincial leaders have planned an unprecedented number of projects. The government estimates that 3 million new homes need to be built over the next 5 years – we need your input to make this target and reality! This high-level strategic summit currently in development will bring your expertise together with other ministers, government bodies, and senior executives from foreign private development companies to meet housing development service providers and suppliers to discuss strategies and opportunities for growth in the booming Iraqi housing development market. I am presently welcoming proposals for sessions from experts that cover an area you feel is relevant to the following broad topics:

  • The economic and political situation in Iraq
  • Iraq’s New Investment Law
  • Iraq’s Overall National Housing Development Strategy
  • Legislative, funding, and financing frameworks necessary to support housing development
  • Exploring Private Public Partnerships and other infrastructure development models
  • Land supply and availability
  • Regional and International Developer Partnerships
  • Housing development financing
  • Mortgage financing
  • Government subsidized housing programs
  • Government led development projects
  • Environmental sustainability
  • Designing for price
  • Designing for culture
  • Building techniques and materials
  • Project development, planning and management
  • Establishing effective regional partnerships
  • Licensing and project planning in Iraq
  • Successful case studies from other from post-war regions & emerging markets
  • Project pipelines, management and planning
  • Strategies for complying with international build standards

This is your opportunity to share your expertise, network, and join us in the shaping of new development in the ‘new Iraq ’ Please submit to me your proposed title to present with a brief description of what the session will be about no later than Thursday July 9th.
