Simulation Training (S.E.N.S.E.)
IIER conducted SENSE training (2005-2007) with the support of USIP in Iraq. This was done with significant success to members of Central Government, Iraqi Parliaments, Provincial Councils, Kurdistan Parliament and the private sector. More than 800 decision makers were trained. IIER has been recognised by USIP (United Stated Institute of Peace) and other international institutions as the only NGO which has successfully administered SENSE, anywhere in the world
Workshops and Seminars
IIER holds monthly seminars with the aim of stimulation informed debate on key issues related to Iraq's economic development. Government officials, specialists, and representatives from NGOs are invited to present their views, before publishing a set of recommendations that are distributed to member of Iraq's council of Representatives, Government ministries, and academicians.
Studies and Analysis
Iraq is receiving significant international aid from government and international organizations. Effective allocation if funds requires reliable, on-the-ground information and critical analysis to ensure optimal resource allocation. The Institiute provides independent and reliable data and analysis about the state of Iraq's economy
Weekly TV program (Iqtisaduna)
The Institute promotes economic reform through a weekly television program called Iqtisaduna (Our Economy) that is aired on the Al-Iraqiyya Channel. During 2005/2006,, nearly fifty episodes were produced, featuring specialists who discussed a variety of economic policy issues. Click here to see the Episodes
Strengthening The Governance in The Province of Thi-Qar
This project aims to increase the skills and capacity of employers, to strengthen the governance in the province of Thi-Qar. Nearly thirty training course were held in the fields of strategic planning, project management, accounting, computer and English language, All of the courses were held in partnership between IIER's southern regional team and SUDGEST AID.
The Essay competition
The essay competition ceremony was held in February 2008 at the Rashid Hotel and received significant coverage from media outlets. Among those who attended were government officials including two ministers, NGO's leading members of the private sector, and academics. More than five local TV channels covered the event as well as leading Iraqi newspaper. The judging panel consisted of five professional economists who selected 26 winning entrants, each receiving one million Iraqi dinars; The ceremony also featured Al-Rafidain Awards, which acknowledeges the work of champions economic development in Iraq for their distinct contribution to market economic reform
